What the extra buys, and what it does not

A booked ride’s price buys a start time, a stated length and route, free cancellation up to 24 hours before on almost every listing, and no wait in the line. The dearer rides add something you can name: the proposal ride comes with a bottle of champagne and a bucket of roses (its photographer is $100 more, paid in cash to the photographer, on the listing); the rides that leave the park for Rockefeller Center and the holiday lights run longer and cost more.

What a higher price does not buy is a longer ride than the one stated. Two guests on the 50-minute ride, in December 2024 and January 2025, wrote that their ride lasted 25 and 30 minutes, and one in December 2025 that it skipped stops the listing names. Note the start time and ask the driver about the route before you set off.

Tips

Most listings exclude tips: Big Apple Horse Carriage, NYCAdventures and NYC Fancy Rides name tips or gratuities as not included. A tip is paid to the driver at the end, on top of the price.
